Amp Straight Die

Not getting enough power to my amp?
I hooked up a system in my car about two months ago and its been working GREAT then last night i was pounding and when i turned it up everything just died and i didnt really care because i thought it was just the fuse but its not the fuse… i checked and im only getting two volts back to my amp and i was wondering if anyone knows whats going on??? It cant be a fuse in the car right, since it is a wire straight from the battery to the amp with a 50 amp fuse in between?
It might still be the fuse. If you’re using an AGU (glass tube) fuse, it’s not uncommon for them to fail without appearing to be blown. The end cap can come apart from the filament, so that the fuse looks good but current can’t flow through it.
If you have a multimeter handy, then it should be easy to find the problem. Just measure the voltage on each side of the fuse holder. (Do this with the system turned on). If you find 12 volts on one side and 2 volts on the other, replace the fuse. If that doesn’t help, replace the whole fuse holder.
If there’s 2 volts on each side of the fuse holder, then the problem is likely to be the connection at the battery terminal. Make sure it’s tight, clean, and not corroded.
If the fuse/fuse holder or the battery terminal isn’t the problem, then check various points along the power line until you find the point where the voltage is dropping. However, if the only connection point in your power line is the fuse holder, that’s almost certainly the problem area.
