Basin Wrench
Mixer tap wrench problem!?
My mixer tap has died, but i need to buy a special wrench to unlock the fastening, in a confined space. Are they called “basin wrench” or cranked spanner?
And what size would I need?
Died= the small plastic-metallic ring inside the shroud has split, and the tap just turns round instead of grabbing the spindle
99% of mixer taps on kitchen & bathroom sinks have a small nut and circlip holding them on…B&Q sells these small tap nut box spanners as a set.
If its a bath mixer then you’ll need an adjustable basin wrench, which comes with two size jaws depending on the nut size, which self tighten as you apply pressure.
>>>but wait….what do you mean by “died”??? you might be easier just replacing the tap valves inside the mixer…a lot easier and much cheaper…..
