Conditioning Belt
Problem with my air conditioning/serp belt?
Hello, just bought my chevy c1500 1991 last week, and there seems to be a bit of a problem with it.
Yesterday, as i was driving home, the edge of the serpentine belt got shredded and wrapped around in the fan. today i went and bought a new belt and put it on, but for some reason when i turn the a/c on, the belt goes flying off. the belt is on properly and i can’t figure out why precisely this is happening.
i live in florida and it is hell to drive around without a/c. can someone help me determine what the problem might be and offer up some solutions? thanks in advance.
hate to say it but…
if it flies off, then it is NOT installed correctly.
or it may be that a pulley is bent / damaged.
check and see if any of the pulleys have any give to them. just rock it up and down with your hand.
if it gives too much, it’s damaged. they shouldn’t give at all but a little tiny bit is ok.
