Key Allen Wrench
Help! Latch on rear liftgate (tailgate) on Jeep Cherokee stuck in the closed position. Can you help?
I tried to close the liftgate on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, and it will not close. On closer inspection, the latch on the liftgate is stuck in the closed position, so the latch is just banging on the fixed tailgate striker in the back of the Jeep. As such, the liftgate cannot close fully.
The door lock sounds like it is working with the key and the remote.
I tried using a cable to pull the latch into the open position, but it will not budge.
It looks like there are two bolts (allen-wrench style) on the bottom of the liftgate that may provide access to the latch mechanism.
Can you help?
i have a 97 jeep cherokee 2×4 and my back hatch locked in the when it was shut and i couldent get it to open so i cut a hole in mine to open but i think thats just a jeep flaw but i dont think you want to cut a hole in your back door but other than that i dont know what to say
