Wisdom Tooth Extraction Pain?
So I went ahead with it and got my 2 bottom wisdom teeth out, both were impacted and horizontal. One came out easy, in one piece, the other, well, it got busted into 20 pieces before they got it all. Question is, I had this done on Friday, it is now Tuesday, and I am still in the same amount of pain I was on the first day. Went to the dentist yesterday, he said I don’t have dry socket, it was just a bad extraction.
I can’t hold out the 4 hours my medication says I should wait before I need a new one, what else can I possibly do other than killing myself to make this pain go away? I want to take more time off work, but feel guilty for doing so.
I’ve had my wisdom teeth removed by both local anaesthetic and under general.
I can’t remember feeling in the same amount of pain four days after.. after either of my extractions. I would go back to your dentist and demand an x-ray if he is 100% sure that you do not have dry socket – if they took the tooth out in tiny pieces then there is always the possibility that there is a tiny fragment remaining. I don’t want to frighten you or blow things out of proportion but that is what I would be doing in your situation.
In the meantime, keep rinsing with dissolvable aspirin (if you can take aspirin and are not allergic to it!) and also salt water. If your dentist is reluctant to do anything then insist on seeing another dentist.
And, don’t feel guilty about taking time off work; if you had this degree of pain anywhere else on your body I’m sure you wouldn’t go to work (for some reason when it is a dental problem we tend to brush things under the carpet a little).
